ROLE and MISSION

  • To encourage every citizen who professes an interest in the animal, bird and fish life and outdoor resources to become active members.
  • To devote its members to the causes of conservation . IE: to defend from waste the natural resources, soils, minerals, forests, water and wildlife.
  • To encourage and foster the propagation of game and fish species.
  • To assist and encourage the enforcement of those game laws which are in keeping with our objectives and to strive for better management and game laws where and when necessary.
  • To co-operate with the government departments and all related groups, where interests are mutual, working toward common goals of the greatest good for the greatest number.
  • To educate the membership and the public, with particular emphasis upon conservation and safety.
  • To emphasize and practise at all times, true sportsmanship.
  • To acquire real estate necessary to carry out our objectives.
  • To protect and enhance the privileges of its members and to participate in the wise use of our natural resources.
  • To support the objectives of the Manitoba Wildlife Federation’s – MWF Habitat Foundation

History of RSRWA (1971 – present)

The Riviere Seine River Wildlife Association (RSRWA) was formed April 27 1971. There were approximately 35 people at the first meeting. Guest speaker from the Manitoba Wildlife Federation was Paul Murphy.

It was voted on and agreed that we would be affiliated with The Manitoba Wildlife Federation and that the membership fees would be $ 5.00 per member or $ 6.00 with your spouse.

Elected as the first directors of the wildlife association were : Adelard Gauthier (President), Billy Hornick (Vise President), Pauline Piche (secretary-treasurer). Louis Granger, Ed Bovin, Dennis Ayotte, Alfred Mezebrowski and Rosaire Grenier.


Missing from our records is all documentation after the first meeting to 1975. (Please accept our apologies for any missed or incorrect information)

  • Oscar Gagnon, John Grimard and Alfred Mezebrowski drafted the original constitution in 1976
  • Incorporated in April 13 1992
  • Purchased 160 acres of land and took possession on May 1 1992. Location of property is SW1/4 34-5-8E Total cost of the land and fees was $20,481.20
  • Planted 2,000 White Spruce and 800 Colorado Spruce seedlings in Spring of 1992. These were all planted by hand.
  • Planted approximately 20,000 White Spruce, 30,000 Jack Pine, 400 Siberian Larch, and 400 Blue Spruce in Fall of 1992. These were planted with the assistance of a tree planting machine.
  • In 1994 approximately 25,000 various berry bushes were planted by hand.
  • Cleaned up the picnic area and built horse- shoe pits in 1993
  • Participated in a permanent cover crop program with the PFRA in May, 1995
  • Built picnic shelter in 1998
  • Built play structure and sand box in 2002
  • Well and hand pump installed in 2009 .. ( unfortunately someone destroyed it )
  • Indoor fireplace and BBQ constructed in 2018
  • Installed water holding tanks in 2019
  • Over the past years there has been numerous activities / events started. Some have been sunset while others have continued. Listed in no particular order : Fall fishing derby, Horseshoes , Bike-a-thon, BBQ, Ice fishing derby, Shoal Lake trip using Greater Winnipeg Water District train, Children’s games, Archery competition, Turkey shoot, Spring Fishing derby, Awards and Banquet, Predator shoot.
  • Currently have approximately 110 members
